NEWTIV Extension Watch: spot closed and abandoned WordPress plugins
Who is it for?
For site owners and agencies who want to know in time that an installed plugin was removed from WordPress.org.
WordPress.org closes plugins every day: security issues, guideline violations, authors who left. A closed plugin never receives another update, yet WordPress does not tell the sites that still run it. NEWTIV Extension Watch checks your plugins and themes against the WordPress.org directory every day and tells you clearly what needs attention.
Four alert levels
- Critical: closed on WordPress.org for a security issue;
- High: closed for another reason, no more updates;
- Medium: no update for 2 years (configurable), probably abandoned;
- Low: not tested with the last two WordPress versions.
Where you see it
- a notice under the plugin, in the Plugins screen;
- a dashboard box, and a full report with a « Find a replacement » link;
- an email, only when a new problem appears.
It only queries the public WordPress.org API with the slug of each installed plugin: no personal data and no site address are sent.
